Newer, high-end Android phones use a newer video encoding called HDR. Older and lower-tier Android phones still use SDR.

To ensure video playback works on all devices, we convert the videos from HDR to SDR format.

Each device model handles this conversion differently. For some devices, the colors are muted when converting.

In addition to compatibility, the HDR 10+ video encoding used by some devices is much brighter than standard video and much brighter than the photos. Intermixing photos with these ultrabright videos creates strange transitions, and the thumbnails look strange next to regular thumbnails. You likely can adjust the video profile used when you record videos.

If you plan on adding clips to PhotoCircle, you'll benefit from choosing SDR or standard HDR, instead of HDR 10+.
